Metabolic Health & Weight Management
Weight is only one piece of metabolic health.
Changes in weight and body composition are influenced by far more than calories alone. Hormones, insulin sensitivity, sleep, stress, medications, muscle mass, nutrition, activity, genetics, and stage of life can all play a role.
At Rise Health & Wellness, we take a medical and individualized approach to metabolic health. Rather than focusing solely on the number on the scale, we look at the broader factors that may be affecting your metabolism, body composition, energy, and long-term health.
The goal is not simply weight loss—it is better metabolic health.
What We Evaluate
Looking Beyond the Scale
Depending on your individual needs, evaluation may include:
Glucose and insulin regulation
Cholesterol and cardiovascular risk
Thyroid and hormone health
Body composition and muscle health
Sleep and stress
Medications that may influence weight or metabolism
Nutrition and eating patterns
Physical activity and resistance training
Family history and genetic risk
Inflammation and other relevant health markers
Treatment is based on the overall clinical picture—not a single number, weight, or laboratory value.
Medical Weight Management
For some patients, lifestyle changes alone may not be enough to achieve meaningful improvement in weight or metabolic health.
When clinically appropriate, prescription medications may be considered as part of an individualized treatment plan, including GLP-1–based therapies.
Medication is not the entire treatment plan. We consider medical history, metabolic health, potential risks and benefits, body composition, nutrition, physical activity, and long-term goals when determining whether medication may be appropriate.
Patients using medical weight-management therapies are monitored over time so treatment can be adjusted based on response, tolerance, and changing health needs.
The goal is to use medication thoughtfully—as one tool within a broader approach to metabolic health.
Protecting Muscle Matters
Building Health, Not Just Losing Weight
The number on the scale doesn't tell us whether weight change is coming from fat, muscle, or both.
Preserving lean muscle becomes increasingly important as we age and is particularly important during active weight loss.
Our approach emphasizes:
Adequate protein and nutrition
Resistance and strength training
Maintaining or improving lean muscle
Healthy, sustainable changes in body composition
Sleep and recovery
Long-term metabolic health
Success isn't defined by becoming smaller. It's about becoming healthier, stronger, and more metabolically resilient.
Ready for a More Individualized Approach?
Whether you're struggling with weight, noticing changes in your metabolism or body composition, or want to take a more proactive approach to your metabolic health, we'll help you understand the factors that may be contributing and determine the most appropriate next step.
Your metabolism is complex. Your treatment should be personalized.
